Nuclear Weapons And Their Hazards Essays - Nuclear Warfare

Nuclear Weapons and Their Hazards The modern world is threaten by atomic bombs, chemical weapons, and other nuclear weapons. The nuclear weapon is the number one problem facing the world today. We have not been able to get nuclear weapons under control yet but we all know that our world will be totally destroy. Since the development of nuclear energy, the outcome of human civilization was very slim. It was intended for a good cause, when a Germany-Jew split the atom and found energy, but instead it was used for destroying the next country. The effect on the modern world in devastating. More recent atomic weapons are the ICBM missile. These missiles have multiple warheads that can destroy the entire world in less then 35 minutes. Nuclear war would produced so much smoke that rapid, substantial temperature and rainfall decreases would occur over wide areas of the middle Northern Hemisphere. Smaller temperature decreases might occur in low latitudes but more importantly in these regions rainfall would probably decreases because monsoons could not develop. Like in On The Beach, all the radiation move towards Australia and everyone innocent people died. A large-scale nuclear war would lessen food production over large expanses in the Northern Hemisphere, this could occur through acute climatic conditions which chilling or freezing temperatures occurring for brief periods during the growing season which could destroy crops or lower production. As result of the variety of potential physical and societal disruptions to agriculture from a large-scale nuclear war, agriculture in the Northern Hemisphere could be shut down or significantly reduced for the first growing season after war and maybe several growing seasons. Only the major grain-producing countries such as United States, Canada, and Australia had enough stored food to keep their populations alive if they lost the crops from a full growing season. For countries and thus for most of the people on earth, the food would run out in a matter of a few months if there were no agricultural production for just one growing season. The majority of the earth's human population is vulnerable to starvation following a large-scale nuclear war. As the radiation affect the human, the skin melts on direct contact, buildings collapse, bodies everywhere, pile up everywhere. When we bomb Nagasaki & Hiroshima, on a one megaton bomb, 3 miles in radius was totally destroy. Now, with 20 megaton minimal to 100 megaton maximum, can destroy a whole 25 miles in radius and more. No one can stop this madness. Even if you're able to control the nuclear weapons, some people country such as Iraq would buy the weapon or make their own and other country will start another war. In Iraq, Saddam Hussein's nuclear power plants were destroy because Iraq threaten the world so much that you must destroy his power plant. Like the movie, The Day After, one person launched the missile, and the rest of the world launch the missile because theres no way of stopping it. One way of controlling it, is stopping the people that makes the nuclear weapon. People have a disease of killing the world and making the world a living hell for all of us. In the book, 5:10 AM, there was a unidentified object on the radar, people are out there partying while an unexpected announcement that it might be a ICBM, everyone started to panic everyone started to seek shelter but this family had an emergency shelter, the people beg their way in, more then 100 of them trying to get into a 4 people shelter and everyone was trying to kill themselves to survive and they nearly torn down the door but the radio came on saying that it was a satellite while everyone was happy again and start partying and the people never learns. No body should have access to the nuclear weapons but nuclear energy is allowed. The space program should have access to the nuclear energy because they can harnest the energy into good use and maybe blow up the aliens. The space program could also make advanced rockets so we can travel faster and discover even more things. Even if you blow your opponent out, wind will eventually blow the radiation fall out back to your country and every one will still hate you it'll even carry the radiation to other countries and other countries will nuke you because you cause it and at the end, you'll end up with a huge comisc radioactive cloud and it'll destroy all living things such as baby with three head,

Government Business Relation Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1500 words

Government Business Relation - Essay Example uses on the link between the concept of globalization and the nation-state; more specifically it tends to answer a major question of whether the role of the Government becomes increasingly important or otherwise in an era of globalization. Initially the term globalization would be defined with regards to the intricate meaning attached to it along with the critiques of it being negative or positive and the factors which contribute to increasing this phenomenon, then the paper proceeds to incorporate the impact of globalization on the state, furthermore this study would explore the methods which are available to redesign the role of the state in order to overcome the challenges launched by globalization on the cohesiveness of the state (Bertucci and Alberti, 2003, Page 1-26). All these sub topics are cardinal to the study of globalization; therefore each would be elaborated in detail along with examples from different parts of the world. In literal terminology, Globalization or Globalisation pertains to the description of a process as a result of which the economies, the societies and cultures of nations throughout the world have been integrated into a web of interdependencies, due to the overarching power of the technological progress in areas of communication, transport and trade. It is often used only to describe the specific concept of ‘economic globalization’ which relates to the involvement of national economies into the international arena, through the tools of trade, FDI (foreign direct investment), capital inflows and outflows, net migration, and the massive spread of technology (Invest Words, 2010). Contract Administration and Change Issues Assignment

Contract Administration and Change Issues - Assignment Example This role is critical in the management of projects as it compels the contractor to provide the necessary corrections to the project and stipulates to the contractor4 the consequences of failure to comply. Another important role of these officers regards the advice to the contractor on the liability of the contractor for the loss or damage to property acquired from the government for the achievement of the project. The role of the contractor ensures that the contractor gets information about this liability in order to guarantee that the tools are not destroyed or lost and in the circumstance, the loss or damage occurs the contractor becomes responsible for such loss or damage. On the other hand, improving the methods of creating contract schedules translates to the systematic execution of projects and improvement of the entire contract management process by the contractor. Improved contract scheduling ensures that the occurrence of activities set out in the contract, the duration of the time these activities take, and how the various activities undertaken in the project relate to each other. Improving contract scheduling also provides the layout of executing the program and provides methods of measuring contract progress. This ensures the accomplishment of the contract within the set out time and provides a method of ensuring achievement of set out goals in the required manner. Improving the contract scheduling process also assists in the identification, addresses any potential issues in the contract execution, and promotes accountability, in the process. Additionally, improving the contract scheduling process ensures scheduling of the key activities in the process in sequence in order to assign the required resources to these processes and provides for the integration of the key activities undertaken to ensure a viable result (John, Ralph & James 2006). Furthermore, these improvements in the scheduling process provide the performance of risk analysis in the pr ocess, therefore, facilitate the distribution of reserves to high-risk activities and provide float times between key activities to ensure completion as per the contract schedule. In regard to the situation in question, the expected role of the contracting officers included the notification of the contractor to changes in the project especially in regard to the EM’s salt water processing facility where the safety board of the Defense nuclear facilities made concerns about the ability of the completed project. Despite these concerns, the project development continued for a significant period. According to Glenn (2010), the contracting officer should have ensured that the concerns of the board were addressed immediately to reduce losses and delays. The report clearly provides that the failure of effective communication between the headquarters and the site officials resulted in this situation. The contracting officer should have ensured that the communication between the two re duced loses and delays because of rework on the project. In respect to the NNSA’s project at the national ignition facility, the role of the contracting officer should have incorporated the development of project schedules to ensure the proper integration of technologies between

Development of the Social Self Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words

Development of the Social Self - Essay Example The ability to develop and maintain a consistent and functional sense of the self in the increasingly superficial and anonymous interpersonal context of modern mass societies is widely believed to be one of the cornerstones of personal and social success (Forgas and Williams, 2003). According to Freud theory, the self is developed as the result of the conflict between id, ego and superego (Bakhurst and Sypnowich, 1995). Chapter 2 discusses the development of the self as the result of comparing the self-concept of who the person thinks he is and the possible selves as images of what the person dreams of or dreads becoming in the future. Within the social identity approach, the self is taken to comprise both personal and social identity. The developmental study of the social self is important because social identities of adults mobilize specific forms of group-related perception and actions. The understanding of the relation between social self-conceptions and social action becomes vit ally important because social identity creates and defines the individual’s place in the society. ... uch actions as supporting person’s dreams, strengthening positive self-image and inspiring for further improvements have profound and long-lasting impact. By helping people connect to their sense of optimism and individual vision of ideal self, people can highly motivate and energize others for better learning, development and change (Bennett and Sani, 2004). The main idea of the self discussed in Chapter 2 is that usually people tend to overestimate of what others think about them, thus, their behavior is limited and controlled by fear, lack of confidence and social stereotypes. When people speak in public, for instance, they usually feel nervous and think it is obvious for others. Though, if to explain about spotlight effect and the illusion of transparency (informed condition), people become more confident while speaking in public and felt better about their speech and appearance than those in the control and reassurance conditions. The development of the self starts at the early age when children learn to understand themselves through the perception of surrounding world and in relation to certain social groups. In the process of developing a theory of mind, children and adolescents gradually learn that people have thoughts, feelings, motives and behavior different from their own. The interpersonal skills are developed and nurtured through the relation to the family, friends, school mates, university mates, colleagues and other people (Bennett and Sani, 2004). Chapter 2 further discusses the sense of individualism and collectivism compared between industrialized Western cultures that have independent self and those in Asia, Africa, and Central and South America that have interdependent self. Such different perception of the self in these cultures creates different

Health Care Payment Systems

Health Care Payment Systems Miguel Boquer   Introduction Healthcare spending has been on the rise over the years and is even more so affected by the continually evolving healthcare payment and insurance systems. To put it into perspective, national healthcare spending has grown from 5.3 percent in 2014 to 5.8 percent in 2015 reaching an astonishing reached $3.2 trillion or $9,990 per individual (Wilson, 2016). In 2016, healthcare expenditures were expected to reach $3.35 trillion averaging $10,345 per individual (Alonso-Zaldivar, 2016). Payment and insurance systems through employers, insurance providers, and government agencies are providing for ways of controlling factors driving healthcare costs. Payment Systems Payment systems have continued to evolve into many various forms over time such as fee-for-service, pay-for-coordination, comprehensive care, pay-for-performance, bundled payment or episode-of-care, upside shared savings programs (Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) or Commercial), downside shared savings programs (CMS or Commercial), partial or full capitation, and global budget (McKesson, 2017). The most popular and original way of payment for health care services being utilized today is the fee-for-service payment system. This system allows for each separate service that is provided to be paid for at a set amount (Miller, 2009). From what I gathered through my research is that as the population ages, healthcare costs rise, and technology advances, the fee-for-service isnt always the most efficient method of payment. A combination of payment systems is more preferable when working with the different sources of payers such as self-payment, insurance providers, or Medicaid/Medicare. Episode- of-care and comprehensive care would be a great combination reason being that some of the aging population or those with more serious conditions can utilize episode-of-care, whereas the comprehensive payment system will cover the population that contain conditions that require more frequent or repetitive care for chronic conditions such as diabetes. For instance, comprehensive care payment would be made to the physician practice or health system to deal with the patients who possess presumptive underlying health conditions. Then, the episode-of-care payment would be made to a hospital if a specific patient requires surgery or any other costly treatment (Miller, 2009). Payers The Affordable Care Act (ACA) is comprised of numerous regulations that focus on the organization of healthcare like how it is delivered and then paid for. The fee-for-service system that has been the most dominant payment system is inefficient and costly to patients and payers, which is why the regulations provided the ACA must be imposed on the flaws of the US health system. As the US economy strengthens, medical prices continue to increase rapidly, and the population ages, Medicare and Medicaid are projected to grow at a quicker rate than private insurance providers (Alonso-Zaldivar, 2016). In the sense of utilizing multiple payers, healthcare providers can transform the way they deliver health care to all of its patients if enabled by the changes in payment systems as long as the payers throughout the community are required to change their payment systems as well in related ways. Additionally if the right payment is set, the health care providers will be able to deliver quality c are to the patients as needed (Yong, Saunders, Olsen, 2010). HIT and Payment Systems Health Information Technology (HIT) is contributing towards effective changes in the way payment systems are operating. HIT continues to be a vital component of directing the health care payers toward automated workflows, while improving the management of medical claims. Data can better managed through the use of HIT innovations such as the transferring of health information within and in-and-out of a health plan, which is substantially important (Patrick, 2016). New, innovative healthcare technology is allowing for the combination of managed care and any additional technology that is used in managing patient care within the patients health plan along with determining the claim payments. The large amount of data that becomes available as a result through that combination can be incorporated with various types of data such as pharmacy or health assessment resulting in a pool of data readily available to access as needed. Conclusion The various healthcare payment systems are being used to cover, coordinate, and manage the costs of care for patients are copiously complex. Only through the improvements of the payment systems have payers been able to effectively control the aspects of healthcare costs. Aging population and the increasing presence of chronic illnesses are calling for improvements to the processes of payment systems such as the implementation of multiple payment systems. The advances of Health Information Technology will be able to allow for the smooth collaboration and integration of multiple payment systems in the efforts of improving the quality of patient care. Sophocles Antigone :: essays research papers

This paper is an essay on Antigone. The story Antigone is a great Greek tragedy. Sophocles, an ancient Greek playwright, is the author of the story. It is a great story. It is known throughout the world. This essay is going to trace the character of Antigone through the beginning, middle, and end of the story. Antigone is a very strong willed character. In the very first scene of the book Antigone is talking to her sister (Ismene) about how their two brothers (Eteocles and Polyneices) killed each other fighting over the thrown. Antigone is enraged over the fact that Creon (Antigone’s uncle and the new king) has buried Eteocles with military honors but has left Polyneices to rot. Creon has declared that any person who buries Polyneices will be killed, but Antigone doesn’t care. Antigone is driven to bury her brother and she wants her sister’s help. â€Å"Ismene, I am going to bury him. Will you come?†(pg.750 line 30). Ismene is too afraid of Creon to help Antigone. Antigone is determined to bury her brother at any cost, and unlike her sister, she is not afraid of Creon. â€Å"Creon is not strong enough to stand in my way,†(pg.750 line 35). Not even the threat of death is enough to make Antigone afraid of Creon. At this point in the book she is stubborn and self-righteous. Antigone then goes out at night and buries Polyneices. That makes Creon very mad, so he unburies Poylneices and posts guard around the body. The next day a whirlwind kicks up around the guards and Antigone starts to bury Polyneices again. Unfortunately the whirlwind died before Antigone could finish burying him, so she is captured and brought to Creon. Antigone boldly admits to burying her brohter despite the fact that she could be killed. Creon tries to convince her that what she did is wrong by pointing out that Eteocles is her brother and Polyneices is a traitor for attacking the city. Despite the fact that her brother, Polyneices, attacked the city, Antigone still loves her brothers equally. â€Å"His own brother, traitor or not, are equal in blood,† (pg.766 line 110). Antigone enrages Creon by refusing to admit Polyneices fault. Ismene tries to take the blame with Antigone but Antigone refuses her help. â€Å"Yes, save yourself, I shall not envy you. There are those who will praise you, I will have honor too,† (pg.

Decision modeling and analysis Essay

Case Problem1: Production Strategy: Here, there is a production management in the Better Fitness, Inc. (BFI) which manufactures two types of machines (BodyPlus100 and BodyPlus200). The detailed math has been done in the report as per the statistics given for its production of the two varieties of the machines. The raw material costs in each section consisting in the manufacture of the specific machine (either BodyPlus100 or BodyPlus200). The labor costs are also given which sums up the production cost of the machine so as to calculate the total cost for its manufacture. The net profits are calculated and recommended that the manufacture of one BodyPlus100 machine provides more profit than that is produced in the manufacture of one BodyPlus200 machine. As the net profit made per hour in the manufacture of one BodyPlus100 is $24.73 and where as, the net profit made per hour in the manufacture of one BodyPlus200 is $19.83 Case Problem2: Solutions Plus: In this case issue, the company Solutions Plus is an industrial chemicals company that produces specialized cleaning fluids and solvents for a wide variety of applications. The main issue is that this company has been invited to forward a bid to supply Great North American railroad with a cleaning fluid for locomotives. The main case is to deal with the math related to the production cost and the shipping from two different places (Cincinnati and Oakland, California). The Solution Plus itself cannot produce and deliver the entire amount of required gallons of the cleaning agent and considering the larger distances to ship these cleaning agents, the shipping charges are also included as the expenditure for manufacturing the cleaning agent. The bid has is sent after deciding that the entire production from Cincinnati and Oakland, California shorts the exact requirement of the cleaning agents from eleven (11) different locations in America.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚   Since the requirement is not exactly met, the supply of the cleaning agents to Pendleton is made short of 17,615 gallons. The reason only Pendleton is made short of its required deal because, the shipping costs are more to the place from Cincinnati. Also, specified that only 500,000 gallons of cleaning agent can be supplied from Cincinnati and only 50,000 gallons can be sent to any location from Oakland, California. The bid is for a contract of two years. So the shipping costs may vary after one year as the fuel rates might fluctuate. So the Director of marketing of Solution Plus has to bid now fore sighting the fluctuations in the fuel price. Hence, due to the restriction of the total number of gallons supplied from Cincinnati, we could only supply 972,937 gallons of the locomotives cleaning agent to the 11 different locations where the exact requirement is 990,522 gallons of the cleaning agent. When the bid is made for $1,821,214.39 for one year, then the net profit that is made in one year is $237,749.72

(Bender, 2002) Inclusive schooling is said to teach mutual respect where students are in a position to respect each other, responsibility in the sense that these children will be in a position to demonstrate responsibility by obeying commands and taking charge of their responsibilities, they will also learn to be generous to others and last they will learn to be independent. (Dei, Zine, and James-Wilson, 2002) Therefore the rationale behind inclusive schooling can be summarized as intending to ensure that all children regardless of the differences the may exist between them are put under the same class environment in order to take advantage of their diversity and help them to learn well. Multinational Enterprises In Asian Development Case Study

Multinational Enterprises In Asian Development - Case Study Example The research will review the trends and expansionist strategies employed by multinational enterprises from these nations and evaluate how they managed to attain successes on the global level. Japanese Businesses The Japanese European Trade Organisation (JETRO) studied a number of things about the expansion if Japanese businesses into Europe (Sachwald, 1995). They identified five main motives for the expansion of Japanese businesses into Europe. First of all, Japanese businesses seeking to expand into Europe for production reasons. Geographically, Japan has not been a very rich island in terms of natural resources. As such, their expansionist drives into foreign nations included the desire to acquire much needed raw materials. Thus, the establishment of foreign companies enabled them to establish production systems with their technology and capital and produce at points close to the customers that they previously exported to. Secondly, the cost of energy and electricity has been tradi tionally high. Japanese expansionist ideology was to make use of cheap electricity and energy costs. Again, Japan has always been an overpopulated island. Due to that, land costs are generally higher. The expansion into foreign lands enabled Japanese businesses to economize and save significantly on rent. Other costs like pollution and transport costs were significantly lower in other parts of the world. Thus, Japanese businesses expanded to foreign lands to take advantage of these production-related advantages. Secondly, Japanese businesses moved to different parts of the world in order to develop new markets. In the 1970s, Japanese businesses had exported large volumes of products to people in different parts of the world.
